Our Take: Ruffwear Beacon Safety Light

UPDATE 11/9/2018 – Check out our updated review of the newest model of the Beacon

As part of Ruffwear’s late Summer product launch this year, the Ruffwear Beacon safety light for dogs was updated. Here’s our take.

Bright and easy to use. With two clips to attach to coats and collars, the Beacon is a breeze to use. The shielded button is slightly recessed so it won’t turn off as your dog moves around but isn’t difficult for you to use. The light dispersing lens makes it so bright you won’t believe it is one LED.

Tough and waterproof. That about sums it up. It can take whatever your dog dishes out.

Easy to change batteries. The Beacon uses two 2032 coin cell batteries that can be replaced without tools. No more hunting for your micro screwdriver to change the batteries.

What we dig

It just works. With two black labs, the Beacon is a must in our camping kit to keep them visible at night. If you’re a nighttime or early morning walker or runner you’ll like the flashing modes to keep your dog visible to cars.

The clip on the back makes it a cinch to attach to your dog’s collar or coat and many Ruffwear products provide an attachment point for the Beacon.
